How to switch plan managers

A simple step-by-step guide to changing your NDIS plan manager without missing a payment.

Reading time: about 3 minutes · Updated 8 October 2026

You’re free to choose your plan manager. If you’re not happy with your current one, switching is usually simple and doesn’t cost you anything.

Before you switch

  • Check your plan includes plan management. If it does, you can usually change plan managers at any time.
  • Check your service agreement with your current plan manager for any notice period.
  • Gather a list of your providers, so your new plan manager can let them know.

Step-by-step

  1. Choose your new plan manager. Sign up with them — with PFPM, that’s a short form or a call to 1300 765 573.
  2. Tell the NDIS. Call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 or speak to your LAC or planner, and tell them who your new plan manager is. See how to choose PFPM for the details to give them.
  3. Let your current plan manager know. They should finish paying any invoices they’ve already received.
  4. Tell your providers. Ask them to send new invoices to your new plan manager from your start date. We’re happy to contact them for you.
  5. Check your first statement. Make sure everything has moved across and nothing has been missed.

Tips for a smooth switch

  • Pick a clear start date, so everyone knows which plan manager pays which invoices.
  • Keep copies of your recent statements from your old plan manager.
  • Ask questions — a good plan manager will walk you through it.

This guide is general information only. NDIS rules can change and every plan is different. For advice about your own plan, call us on 1300 765 573 or talk to your LAC or NDIS planner.
